Review by: John & Linda Woof UK Feb 2010 - This was our third visit to Green Tree. We have stayed in different rooms and each one has been first class. The breakfast is superb and evening meals worth every rand. Lezl, Datie and Reinhard are fantastic hosts and welcome us as one of the family. Since our first visit they have installed a swimming pool which is an added bonus. The farm is perfectly situated to visit Addo and numerous other game reserves. It is also on a good road to visit the coast. We would find it hard to visit South Africa without staying at Green Cottage even if it is a long drive from Cape Town but certainly well worth it. |
Review by: Adele & Chris Jams UK January 2010 - Great place to stay, but what made it exceptional was the service we received: travelled with both my partner + parents & received personal touches everywhere.. Nothing was too much effort & we felt at home & very comfortable. Cottages & scenery are both stunning, friendly service + food = YUMMY! Couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommend staying here for a true SA experience. |
Review by: Joanne Bamberger South Africa January 2010 - Wow what a wonderful time we had at Green Tree Farm - it exceeded our every expectation! The accommodation was beautiful and the service outstanding. The extra special touches were noted!! Our children had an experience of a lifetime - they even saw a baby calf being born! The food was excellent!! We enjoyed all the adventures of living on a farm as well as being able to explore the area and visit Addo! Lezl your hospitality was memorable and you can be sure that we will make a special trip in the future just to visit Green Tree Farm!! |
Review by: Lesley Watson UK November 2009 - We chose the cottages because they are very convenient for Addo Elephant Park and Schotia Safaris ( both of which we recommend ). Located on a dairy farm the cottages are large, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated They are in a remote location and you need to drive to get to shops and restaurants but don't let this put you off. There is a well stocked Spar supermarket about 25 mins away and the Nanaga farm stalls are a little closer. Nanga serves good lunches and is well known for its tasty pies (don't miss these ! ). If you stay at Green Tree on a B&B basis you can organise for supper to be delivered to your cottage each night. Supper is cooked by Lezi (the owner ) and we were very pleased with the quality of food she provided (especially the boboti !). Breakfasts are served in the dining room and are generous and well presented. Lezl is a GREAT host She is very friendly, caring and helpful I would recommend these cottages to anyone visiting this area. |
Review by: Aron Aurelie, France September 2009 - We stay 3 nights with my husband and my 4 children (1, 3, 5 and 7 years old). The place is really nice (farm life with animals, nice little dogs, a lot of space and trampoline for the children), the cottage very pretty, Lezl was really nice, she cooks very nice meals... It was PERFECT !!! My children cry when we left ! We wish we could stay longer !! THANK YOU. |
Review by: Gabriele Rubini Addo Idyll, Italy August 2009 - Addo was the first big game park my girlfriend Cristina and I visited during our recent South African holiday. We chose to avoid posh and prohibitively expensive lodges and - intrigued by previous guests' reviews - picked Green Tree for our two-night stay in the area. What a wise decision that turned out to be!!! The place is nothing short of idyllic. We felt like two peas in a pod in our wonderful cottage, particularly once we managed to warm it up a bit, (we had no idea South African Winters could be so cold), and only had to lie back and enjoy Lezl's delightful hospitality and helpfulness. It was Lezl to organise our game drives at the Addo and in an adjoining game reserve and her help and directions enabled us to make the most of our stay. A special mention for the house cuisine: Lezl's bobotie beats any version sampled before or afterwards and the breakfast buffet is monumentally good. |
Review by: Ryan & Jenna Weaver January 2009 - My wife and I recently spent six nights of our honeymoon at The Green Tree Guest Cottages and it was absolutely perfect! The cottages are well equipped, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The service is outstanding from the thoughtful and friendly hostess Lezl who gave us a bottle of Champagne on arrival to celebrate, packed us numerous picnic baskets for our early morning adventures into Addo elephant park and even made us breakfast in bed (!) to the efficient cleaning fairies who somehow manage to keep the rooms spotlessly clean in the blink of an eye (who knows where they come from or went, but they do a damn fine job of it). I would recommend The Green Tree Cottages to anyone wanting to spend time in the Eastern Cape as it offers a good balance of peaceful farm life perfect for relaxing, it is close to Addo for day visits and is in easy travelling distance from PE should one wish to go shopping or attend the fantastic dolphin shows at Bayworld. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thanks again to Lezl and her staff for making our honeymoon time with them so special. |
